Highlands Ranch, CO (District 30)

I am a homeschooled sophomore who has lived in Highlands Ranch most of my life. I participate several extra curricular activities including baseball and figure skating. I am also involved in speech and debate.

I served on the council last year, and this year I am on the economic opportunities committee. Government has always been of interest to me, especially the economics of it. The council has been a great experience for me and has opened up opportunities to actually have a say in our state's government.

My name is Annsley Brophy and I am a sophomore at Yuma High School in the small rural town of Yuma, Colorado. I am the oldest of four kids and have one sister and two brothers. I live on a farm/ranch that is 27 miles from the nearest town. I participate in many school activities including student council, Future Farmers of America (FFA), drama club, and Thespians. I also participate in sports, playing softball and basketball.

In 2007 I wrote the Yuma County Civic Initiative. It allows rural Yuma County students the opportunity to experience Colorado State Government first hand. Every year we sponsor 12 middle school students on a field trip to the state capitol building in Denver, Colorado. We also host a high school program called Senator for a Day for juniors and...

I am a seventeen-year-old Senior in the International Baccalaureate program at Lakewood High School. I am in Student Senate, American Youth Parliment, and I am Secretary of National Honor Society. I have played soccer for twelve years, and I absolutely love music.

Public Policy is my passion. I am going into my third year on the council, and this summer I worked as an intern for the Colorado Youth Advisory Council. I have also worked as an intern for the Jefferson County Victory Offices, and as a volunteer on Representative Ken Summers' re-election campaign. I am thrilled to be a part of this great group of people and I'm excited to make a difference for the youth of Colorado.

I'm a sixteen year old Denver native. I'm serving as an at-large member on COYAC this year, and I'm eager to hear the opinions of Colorado youth. I serve on the Human Rights committee of the Council, which focuses on areas of basic needs and respect. My academic focuses are in History, Philosophy, and Literature. I have been involved in several political races on community, state, and national levels, as well as interned with Forward Colorado and Representative Dennis Kucinich of Ohio. I was home schooled through high school and am currently attending my Sophomore year at Regis University. I enjoy reading Dostoevsky novels, bicycling, eating vegetarian food, and ballroom dancing.

Hey Everyone! This is my third year of being on the Colorado Youth Advisory Council. Currently i'm a sophmore at Salida High School. I'm always looking for ways to get involved in my school and in my community. In middle school, I was on student council, the lead member of an anti tobacco group called Get R!eal, a member of COYAC, and ran cross country and track for my school. In high school, I have been a competitive varsity cheerleader and a varsity soccer player. Outside of school, I ski, kayak, and mountain bike with my wonderful friends and family. In 2006, I was nominated as the Boys and Girls Club of Chaffee County's "Youth of the Year". This was one of the first steps in finding my true leadership skills. Two summers ago, I attended the National Youth Leadership State...
